Caution; Merge; Workers Ahead! Lynn Woods Trail Day: October 13th

On Saturday October 13, 2007, Dieselbikes will be holding our fifth and last Trail Maintenance day in Lynn Woods for the 2007 season. This trail day has been approved by the Lynn Woods Park Management. On Saturday we will be cutting a new section of trail to re-route a current section within the park. The trail work site is 15 minute walk from the Ballfield parking lot just up the Ballfield trail past the large water tank. Here is what you need to know:

    Start Time and Meeting Place:
Everyone should meet at the Ballfield parking lot at 9:00am. We will be leaving the parking lot by 9:15 after a trail safety/work review meeting and head to the job site. If you can not make it there by 9:15, come any way and just ride or walk out to the work site. We will put you to work when you get their.

    Estimated Project Time:
We accept this project to take 5 hours to complete. We may have a group ride after the trail day, but this is weather/time dependent, so bring your bike.

    What to Bring:
Bring your own bug spray, food, water, pair of work gloves and eye protection. Weather is always questionable, so dress appropriately. Bring your bike is encouraged but always optional. Please remember, at this point in time Dieselbikes does not have the funds to provide lunch. It is suggested you bring your own food, snacks water and/or drink.

What WE are going to do:
With last year’s addition of the Figure 8 Trail, it is time to begin repairing sections of the Ballfield Trail. A section of trail (highlighted in blue) that requires maintenance is located on the map in section 5E. This section of trail begins a sharp climb up towards Mary Ellen Drive. This climb is severely eroded and has pieces of road asphalt located on the trail thread. The path of this trail is in poor condition and we will be re-routing this section to more suitable ground.

By re-routing this section of trail, we will create a better line of site for all park users, while enhancing the overall flow and character of the Ballfield Trail. Clean up and closure of the old eroded trail section will be completed during this maintenance day.

All volunteers will need to carry tools (picks, shovels etc) to and from the work site. This will be a labor intensive day and tools will be provided for this work day. If you have your own personal tools you rather work with, feel free to bring them, but you are responsible for your own property.

Please PM or e-mail ([email protected]) if you need further information.

No worries, there was a race last trail day. The lot has plenty of room for all.
