On Sunday October 12, 2008, Dieselbikes will be holding our forth and final Trail Maintenance days in Lynn Woods for 2008. Park Management has approved this trail day and we look forward to support by the local community. Sunday will begin phase two of re-working Ridge Run Trail making it more stable and fun for all park users. We will require a ton of volunteers to complete the job on Sunday. The trail work site is just a 10-minute walk from the Ballfield parking lot! Here is what you need to know:

Start Time and Meeting Location:

Everyone should meet at the Ballfield parking lot at 8:45am. We will be leaving the parking lot by 9:15 after a trail safety/work review meeting and head to the job site. If you cannot make it there by 9:15, come any way and just ride or walk out to the work site. We will put you to work when you get there.

Project Weather/Cancellations:

Dieselbikes works regardless the weather conditions are rainy or sunny. If inclement weather such as but not limited to severe lighting, heavy rain, nor’easters and or snow, we will then post a cancellation notice one day prior on the homepage of our website.

Estimated Project Time:

We accept this project to take 5 hours to complete. If you bring your bike, you can be the first to ride the trail! We may have a group ride after the required trail work is completed, but this is weather/time dependent.

What to Bring:

Bring your own bug spray, food, water, pair of work gloves and eye protection. Weather is always questionable, so dress appropriately. Bring your bike is encouraged but always optional. Please remember, at this point in time Dieselbikes does not have the funds to provide lunch. Again, it is suggested you bring your own food, snacks water and/or drink.

What WE are going to do:

The section highlighted in blue on the work map below shows the general area of trail work. A section of Ridge Run Trail has become unappealing over the past few years. We have received approval to repair and recondition the trail that should result in fixing a number of its current unappealing problems. Re-condition of this trail will be broken down into a few phases. Phase 1 was complete on May 31 2008; now we are going to complete Phase 2.

Phase 2 in-tales building berms for sweeping turns; rock armoring up-hill climbs and better utilizing the natural terrain features. Our goal is to make this trail more favorable to all park users by developing better line of sight and add directional flow to the existing trail.

As usually, this is a big project and will need work groups to dig, build and armor sections of the trail. This will be a labor-intensive day and tools will be provided. If you have your own personal tools you rather work with, feel free to bring them, but you are responsible for your own property. Please PM or e-mail ([email protected]) if you need further information.
