Good CX routes in Boston proper

    Hi All,
Any suggestions on some good gravel or dirt path roads that extend a pretty good stretch? I am a recent convert to CX coming from road bikes and commuting. I have a non suspension CX (salsa warbird) that i would like to stretch as far as possible, but not get to crazy. I live in Boston and have a vehicle to travel. Thank you in advance

Blue Hills has miles of fire roads that should do the trick.

Contact Brian at JRA Cycles in Medford. He's big into CX and knows where to ride.

Thanks guys. I am fairly close to Blue Hills. Any idea where the best access point is to the fire roads? I know there are several parking and entrances.

Easiest parking lot is next to Houghton's Pond. There's also a good one next to the ski area/museum.

Would Willowdale be good for CX? There's a ton of XC singletrack but it is intertwined with a fairly extensive fire road network.

Full disclosure: I have never done cyclocross.

I have seen a couple people in the past ripping willowdale on cx bikes. some sections would be a bit rough and rocky but 90% of the singletrack there would be good for it

Not Boston proper but some thoughts. Take the Minute Man bike path to Lexington, then hit up Land Locked forest. Or go to end for miles of trails in Harvard Forest, Concord, Carlisle, Great brook and beyond.
