found the new stuff at Gilson hill...nice

so I bumbled into new stuff

from dumpster heaven bottom end (at the dumpsters) and going right on the doubletrack toward TCR
and bop right back into the woods before the gate, a quick left into new ST that takes you right back to the start of dumpster heaven again

I'll def be doing this every time I go in there, help flatten it out and
    it's wicked fun besides...

FYI... this new trail that is being built by MV NEMBA is not completely done & not officially open yet. You'll notice that the ends of the trail as well as any place where it crosses old trails are not raked out yet. A few spots still need work. Eventually, the trail known on Strava as Dumpster Heaven will continue to create a continuous single track trail that loops back to the top intersection where the Yellow, Blue, & Orange trails meet. The lowest section of this trail (that the OP actually missed) contains a stream crossing that has not been worked on yet. I prefer that riders stay off this section until the stream crossing work is done. So the route that the OP described is "OK" to ride, just not quite done yet.

yes it is in, bridge is build and trail end 'stumps' 'unstumped'

Northern Loop ? Dumpster Heaven extension it will be to me.

It's freaking perfect and really completes BSF.

Yes, open now, still not quite done. Once it became apparent that bikers were riding the entire trail, I decided to quickly put in 2 planks for the stream crossing & rake out the remainder of the trail.

What's the total mileage there now? Might give it a go next weekend if it's worth the drive...

    ^^

it depends. this map shows 19 miles of farting around.
    1770 feet of climbing,
I only did half Russell mill. You could add 8 more miles
to this, easy, in Russell Mill, Rangeway TF, and Warren Manning,
    BSF, BSF/Gilson Hill.

yeah it is def worth the trip, if you connect all the green stuff similar to this.

and....for the cost of 1 mile of pavement,
if you pop out of Russell Mill at my red arrows,
you can enter Thanksgiving Forest/Great Brook Farm if you need to get some more...

Is the outer loop around Gilson Hill proper worth a go? I usually just ride the inner loop counter-clockwise.

the outer outer loop is just old tote roads, not worth much
but it is 'big-ring' fast if you want to practice top gear sprints...

however, you can make some super stiff climbs from it, like, straight
to the top with no filler. I did that a few times when I first started riding
there and....it'll loosen you up for sure

the glison hill proper, outer, is still boring, but better,
the best part of this is rt3 lowest. it is a rolly atv trail.
the one outer edge along rt3 (closest to the 3 sign on the bottom of map above)

here is an idea of where the cool kids are riding -before- Northern Loop..errr. I mean 'Dumpster Heaven extension' was just finished. well I'll be...Northern Loop is already on openstreetmap

We were just exploring this area last night. Well done with plenty of tech and flow in between.
Figuring this all out as I go!

I rode this area today for the first time. Great work on the trails! Tech that flows! This will definitely get added to all my Russell Mill rides.

    so....Gilson Hill question

The inner loop is a single short stub off Northern Loop, to a circle, then back the way you came

now there is new 2019 stuff off the hill end facing TrebleCoveRoad called 'One Rock' is that correct ? and it is also a single stub to a circle trail ? come back the way you came in ?

I haven't seen it yet, just on openstreetmap

edit: yeah so I checked out 'one rock'. sure as sh*t, the name is correct. it is one smoove section...and one rock. and a really nice jump clockwise... ideal for practice as it has a smooth approach and long smooth runout. [me being a puss on a long legged bike this helps me a lot]
