    Fells conditions (greater Boston)

I know the Fells isn't exactly mtn bike mecca but I had a chance to get out on my first ride yesterday. Thought I'd actually contribute to the forum...so there!

Trails were surprisingly dry. Thereís definitely some muck left over from rains, but this is minimal and only in small patches. Most of these spots were in the middle of fire road and you could easily ride around them. Thereís still a moderate amount of leaf litter still covering the trails, which makes those quick DH rock gardens a bit nerve-wracking.

Only went out for about an hour and a half last night, didnít do the whole park, mostly the reservoir loops near the Sheepfold. Plan to go back at least once or twice this week, depending on weather.

Overall just super excited to get out there on the new rig!

Thanks for the report. While not a "mtn bike mecca", the Fells serves many a rider in the northern greater Boston area. Riding is riding, beats sitting at home thinking about it. You can get a little creative in there without getting in trouble...

I had some great rides on an old hard tail with studded tires there this winter. The snow and ice hard packed into nice flowy trails. Now its back to the old roots and rocks!
