Fat Bike Trails This Weekend around Metro West?

Hey All - renting a fat bike this weekend and looking for some recommendations on trails to ride. I live in Medfield MA, so something around that area.

Ummm, good luck with that. Where did you snowshoe the trails? X3? Packed ski moto trails? 1 ft of fluffy powder. Going to take lots of feet, skis and snow shoes with some melting to even be close to ride conditions. Highland park has a thing with groomed downhill this saturday.

Ah. Makes sense. Looks like Wompatuck grooms for fat bikes, and I see they have an event on Sunday. That may be the ticket.

^^^ Yes, you are correct on that one. The best would be to groom and then a good amount of fatty tracks.

I was really hoping that the bike would magically float on top of 18" of fluffy powder. I'm not liking the idea so much now.

Yes good luck. It doesn't matter how much of this powder gets packed down, as long as it stays this cold it won't pack well. It really needs to warm up in the high 20's, low 30's with some sun. Then it needs to be stomped down and get a good freeze overnight to have it not suck, especially if it is your first time out on a fatbike. There is a slight learning curve with technique, understanding tire pressure, and understanding how to ride different types of snow.

I would see if you can get it for next weekend.

    Good luck!
