    Bought a new bike.

Well its been 17 years since I bought a new mountain bike. I have been riding my ultra reliable Trek Y11 with spin wheels fir a long time. Still in near perfect condition. upgraded to a brand new 2012 Specialized epic Carbon Comp. Paid $2700 for it which I think was a great deal. Warrantied as new.
The bike is light years ahead of my older Trek. The only thing I don't care for is getting to the down shift lever. I feel like I am risking losing grip when I reach for it. Anyone else have this issue? Is there a better shifter?
Also where are the best trails in towns south of Boston? Specifically near Norton?
    Thanks Mike

    Bought a new bike.

Can you just loosen the shifter and rotate it up a bit?
