3rd Annual Trails for Nails MTB Ride

3rd Annual "Trails for Nails" Charity Mountain Bike Ride

Greater Springfield Habitat for Humanity (GSHFH) is once again asking supporters to "hit the trail." On Saturday, June 11 at 10:30 a.m., mountain bikers from across the region will participate in the second annual "Trails for Nails" - a 20-mile ride at Robinson State Park in Agawam, Mass.

This unique fundraiser features two laps on a 10-mile loop, which can be ridden solo or as a part of a two-person team, crossing a wide variety of terrain. It doesnít matter if you are just getting your feet wet in the sport or if youíre a seasoned rider, Trails for Nails can accommodate all skill levels. For those that canít do the full 10 or 20 miles, thatís fine, too!

This year we are adding a family/casual loop. This 3-4 mile ride is geared toward families and people looking to get on their bikes and support the cause but are not ready for 10 or 20 miles.

For the avid runners, we have added a 5 km event that will kick off at 9:00 a.m.

For more information or to register:

Go to www.fitnessforfamilies.org or www.active.com and search Trails for Nails pay the $30 to ride $20 to run. Or pay $40 and do both.

    Caution; Merge; Workers Ahead!

Unfortunately, the damage sustained during last week's tornado is forcing us to postpone the Trails for Nails event on June 11, 2011. As of this morning Robinson State Park is still closed to the public with no definite reopening date. Although the trails are in decent shape (for the most part) the park still has no electricity or bathroom facilities. The Trails for Nails committee has discussed our options and feels that it is important to give all of our participants the experience that they have registered and paid for. In addition, giving people the time to help out those who have been affected either directly or indirectly.

We will be rescheduling the ride/run for a date later in the summer based on availability of the park and key sponsors. As soon as we have a date we will disseminate it. Anyone that cannot make the new date and have already registered will have the opportunity to get a refund.

Please pass this information along to other interested riders/runners. On behalf of Greater Springfield Habitat for Humantity (GSHFH), our support and blessings go out to all the people affected by the recent disaster. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to email [email protected]. Please check www.habitatspringfield.org, www.fitnessforfamilies.org and facebook for updates.
