Rift Zone 3 - is this bike suited for my terrain?

    Hi all,

I am able to buy a second hand marin Rift zone 3 which looks like an awesome bike to me for a good price. I have read a few reviews but see a lot of mentioning of pedal bob and more suited to aggressive terrain.

I am mainly riding in the north of belgium which only consists of hills and no real mountains. I like riding singletrack with some roots and small drops (no big jumps) but there are also a lot of fire roads. I was looking for a short travel trail bike which is also a bit efficient. Is this a good bike for me?

Second question: is the actual seat tube length on the marin site correct? I have a saddle height of approx 80cm and on a L or XL that would really be stretching the max of the dropper.

    Thank you for your help!

I wouldn't call it efficient, but it's an ok climber. What is your budget? If you get the RZ3, the shock will have a lock out for long smooth climbs. If you can afford it, I'd probably steer you towards a more XC type bike like the YT Izzo.

I would agree that it might not be the best bike for that terrain, but if you can get it for a great price used, then just try it and see. You can resell it for little or no loss if it doesn't suit you.
