Great experience with Marin frame warranty

Recently I broke my 2013 Marin XC-8 frame (see first pic.). This happened while climbing Bayshore at China Camp. I heard a lound "SPRANG" and saw that the seat tube between the shock pivot and the deraileur hanger was broken. I called Crosslake Sales where I had purchased the bike and they said they would take care of it. Then I got an email from Marin and worked with them to have a LBS do the component swap. The hardest part of the whole think was having someone else work on my bike, but I understood their reasoning. Anyway, long story made short, Marin came through with a new frame I'm back on the trail.

Yeah, not only am I old, I'm also a clyde and if my bars are lower than my seat, my neck and back ache after about 30 minutes. With that goofy stem, I can ride a lot longer.

I had a 2013 Mt. Vision break in the same spot. The frame kicked into the shock and dented my shock can also. Luckily, I had a spare from a previous build. I am clyde also and find that lots of bikes are made for lighter peeps since I have had a few frames break over the years, oh well. Good to hear the good turnaround, I had great customer service with my issue as well.

l hope this is only a problem for Clydesdales. No breakage on my 2013 XM 8 so far, only 150# here.

I purchased a 2012 Marin East Peak from Crosslake Sales in 2013. Crosslake is an authorized Marin dealer. I broke the frame in 2014 (cracked seat tube right next to the weld for the shock mount) and had a good experience working initially directly with Marin, and then through my local Marin dealer, North of the Border Bikes in San Diego. I received a 2012 or 2013 Mt Vision frame with shock, as well as a Fox 32 fit fork to match. I had to buy a different wheelset to match the 142 rear and through axle of the Mt Vision, but that was a reasonable compromise I thought.
