Unplugging your light from your battery?

So I got a Seca 700 Race and was flipping through the manual and noticed that it had a warning about unplugging the light from the battery whenever it was not in use. Is there any particular reason for this? I've been keeping it plugged in and hopefully it's not draining the battery or something.

Some LED driver circuits use a tiny bit of juice even when they're "off" apparently.

But more important might be if it's accidentally switched on, overheats, and starts a fire. I had that happen to a halogen bike light once....melted a hole right through the plastic box it was in, and through the carpet in the back of my car right down to the steel floorboard I'd unplug it

It's not about speed, it's about lack of control.

Ok thanks, I was worried if I was gonna lose battery life. I'll unplug it whenever I remember to :P
