TBC Fenix BC21R unboxing / review

Hi Guy's, my review sample of the bc21r arrived earlier this week. So I've done a quick overview / unboxing. Full review to follow shortly.

    You have incredible unboxing skills.
I can now open all these boxes I have been struggling with.
    Thanks!

Can you verify the LED is a Cree? Looks funny in the front view at the end of your video.

I have no reason to doubt that it isn't a cree. It performed well tonight.

Still doesn't look right to me

I am used to seeing the dome on an XM-L/XM-L2 distort the edges of the phosphor so they looked curved.

    Just my experience

Anyone have any experience with the light on the bars yet? Does it jiggle on rough trail or is it solid? I'm asking because I had my nitecore mh-10 jiggling all over the place with a twofish mount and it drove me crazy!

This is more of a commuter light not a trail light. Self contained lights on band mounts always shake badly off road. Whats why ones meant for trail use have solid mounts. Band mounts only work for lights that have separate battery packs

Nice review and nice lamp. Looks versatile. Not sure how I like the plastic outer shell though. Proper cooling might be an issue.

Not sure I like the mount. The ladder band might wear out after a while and if you need to replace it you have to go through Fenix. Then again it will probably work with a standard O-ring as long as you have the right size.

About the emitter; probably Cree. Perhaps they just de-domed the emitter and are relying on their own optical system for the beam pattern ( shrug ).

Since this is basically a commuting light ( with two part optic system ) I was really hoping to see what the beam pattern looked like. Price?

The lamp and mount look "plastic-y". I would worry at how fragile it might be. Still, I could over look all this "IF" the lamp had a great beam pattern and had no other problems. At least the battery change out looks to be a snap so +1 on that.

Hi Spankone, if you compared the beam of the BC30 to this light, would you suggest that the horizontal cut off is lower? Reason I ask is I have the BC30, and there is still a fair amount of spill light above the hotspot which can still be a nuisance for drivers. Looking at your close image up of the BC21r, it appears the horizontal cut is is a little lower now
