    rear light mounting

How are people mounting their rear lights on the seat stays? Or head lights mid-fork?

Back of helmet for road riding, even in daylight. (Light is daylight -visible)

Suggest this. Remove the rear seat clamp bolt and slip in a L or U bracket. The mounting screw/attachment of the rear light should easily attach to either bracket for best position and angle.

Not sure about mounting mid-fork. If the light source is too low the front tyre may create a shadow ahead of the wheel. Rather, using the same concept as above, remove the stem bolt/s that secures the handlebar. Customize a flat or L bracket to fit in the gap between the stem and the face plate - there's normally not much of a gap to play with so imagination may be required. It may vibrate if too thin or weak. If well made, you can even fit more than one lighthead. Use zip ties to clear cables from light path.

Sorry! I just reread the post. I thought it said seat rails not seat stays!

    Oh well....

    FWIW

This is the way I did it with my magicshine light that uses an o-ring mount
    • take a piece of flexible sprinkler riser and cut it long enough to span the seat rails
    • split it lengthwise
    • notch both halves for the seat rails
    • use zip ties on both sides to clamp halves to seat rails
