    Prepping a chinese light package

    Hey all,

I've enjoyed reading about the various lights and batteries, although 50% of the content flies right over my head. I have no electrical engineering and no hands on experience with boards or related materials. That being said, I can turn a screwdriver and follow basic directions.

Per recommendations from folks here I recently purchased a kaidoman light and battery packs (2 cell and 4 cell pack). I was wondering whether I should check the parts to make sure everything is all set-- for example, people mention using heat paste. Is this something you'd recommend for a novice, or is it safer to avoid the risk of opening something up? Anything I can do to avoid problems on the trail?

    Thanks in advance.

before going to ride with it

get a fan, aim at light

set up light on safe surface, and run it indoors till it dims/goes off and check runtime, battery drop..etc. feel how hot it gets...charge it back up

so you know what to expect
