My Yinding style light dims and goes back to full power...fixes?

    Here's the scoop:

Last season I picked up what I thought was a Yinding...this exact light:

    Robot Check

It has the 10 level programmable driver. When it's working, it's an awesome light on the helmet. I have it programmed for 10/10, 8/10, and 2/10.

A couple rides ago, I was having trouble seeing the trail like I wanted to. It was snow/raining, so I chalked it up to that.

Last night I went on a fat ride and the light started dimming itself during the ride. It was 18-20F out. When I felt the light head it was hot to the touch, in spite of being moving for an hour and a half in the cold. After a few minutes and cycling thru the settings again, it went back to full brightness...then back to dim(ed)

I'm running off of a new xeccon 4 cell samsung pack.

I'm assuming somehow the light is overheating and dimming itself. Is there a known bad connection I need to fix? Are there some simple mods I can do? I have some thermal paste here, but not sure how to go about it.

    Thanks all,
    H.

There is a good chance something is wrong with the driver. I bought the same light and after a few months it ended up in the garbage. That's not a yinding or even a kd2, that's a kd2 clone. Thermal paste wont even help it. I would make sure there isn't some wires damaged internally or anything like that as it could be a bad connection too.

Ugh, thanks. It's a nice little light when it works. I guess that's what happens when you get a version this watered down.
