    Magic shine mj-872 battery solution?

My 2 season old light wouldn't fully charge. Would charge to 7.1 volts then stop charging.

Many others complain of this issue. After I measured the charger output and battery presto it then charged to the full voltage.

My only guess is that I might have shorted albeit briefly, the battery or charger , being a sloppy kind of guy.

Perhaps it "reset" whatever circuit that was faulty.

If this is your issue try it . Shouldn't really damage anything if it's a brief short.

No you have unbalanced cells inside. I don't know which battery pack you have. mj-872 battery tells me nothing as you can use almost any tipical battery pack with that light. If you describe it or even better make a picture we would know more.

Anyway, the pack should be opened and balanced as the first measure I would do. Of course voltage of each cell or set(pair) of cells should be measured before that to prove they are not at the same level.

Charge the pack if all are 3.92v then their as balanced as their going to get. They should charge to around 4.2V each. Could be a charger fault as well because 2 seasons the pack shouldn't be performing that poorly already. Unless its no name cells inside.

after reassembling it's dead. time to buy new batts and charger......

I must have done something to the electronics while soldering .

In summary my destructive ( by disassembling to test each cell) should have waited for a new charger first.
