    choosing a light pattern

I can only afford to do one light now. What should I get first the flood or beam? I am looking at the ms and br lights.

    Hey Cajun Rich,

Usually if I am running one light it is typically a flood (wide angle) reflector on a bar mounted system. Generally speaking you'll get a little better angle on the light hitting the ground with it mounted on your handle bars, shadows will appear more naturally and the light won't flatten things out as much as they may if you are only running a helmet system. The reason behind the wide angle lens is that the light will spread out onto the sides of the trail and as you are going through turns it throw light where you need it better than a spot lens would.

That being said, you can always experiment and see what you personally like best, half the fun in life is trying new things - and getting new bike gear!
