    xpe suppliers?

Who besides Cutter has some XPE's in stock?
R2's or Q 5's-square prefered so Carclo lenses fit.
I see Digi-Key has some but I'm not paying $13 per unit.

Though DX is well known for very random shipping times.

Womble, thanks for the reply. I was looking for the XPE not the XRE though.
After looking for quite a while I found out that Arrow has the R2 bins in stock for about $7.65. Not too bad really.
    No Optics found though.
Bram Peters should have some Lisa-XP's in stock.
Much tighter beam than the Carclo's.
    9.5 degree vs 16.5

These have some optics, cost you a fortune though if you're in the U.S. http://www.leds.de/p704/High_power_L...Cree_XP-E.html

Hey Joe, did you have a bad experience with Cutter? I ask because I had a really long wait late last year, and was a bit upset when I found that they had not shipped after waiting 2 weeks, but they did after I emailed them. I put in another order a couple months ago and it went without a problem and they shipped in a couple days, I don't think I would hesitate to order again now.

Even thought I have never had a problem with cutter I do find it really weird to order parts from a US firm and have them come to me via Australia. Its even crazier because Cree is in Durham and I am in the DC metro area.

Check that price again. I'm pretty sure they are $22+ for qty 1. The $7.65 price is for qty 10. Of course that give you motivation to get 10. We all need a 10 up light, right?

Digikey knows this and since they cater to the small qty order they price the parts for that.

This is why I got some XR-E's for my first experiments.

Huffy, I did have a bad experience-BUT after a few irate emails, Ben was good enough to straighten out the order.
Apparently the Carclo narrow optics are still BO'd.
I substituted some mediums which have almost the same specs and my shipment was sent today.
Unfortunately when there's a delay it's difficult to find out what the status is on your order.
I wish they'd have a way to check out your status online, they are a good company.
They just need to be a bit more attentive to inquiries.
I also ordered some Lisa's from Bram-who is always quick shipping.
I'll post some build pic's as the light evolves.

But DX doesn't have optics for XPE. 10mm is not a problem, I can make square 10mm from round 12.8 mm

IMHO there is not much difference, the DX Q5's I have seem to be just as good, but with DX you only get one choice of tint.

Deal Extreme and Kaidomain both have Q5 XPE's on their site now... very cool!
