A word of warning about new batteries..

Just a word of warning about new batteries...

I bought 3 of these from All-battery, superb service and they were in the UK within a week.

After heat-shrinking the wires and putting a socket on one of them I plugged in one of my lights .... and nothing... plugged in the charger.... more nothing!

So I checked the soldering... all good, put a meter across the socket... and the polarity of the was wrong.

On further investigation the red was showing -12 ish Volts ... I re wired the socket the other way round but I think the damage had been done to the PCB and the battery was dead.

The first photo shows what I found when I took the factory heat shrink off - the red and black wires were round the wrong way.... the red going to P- and the black going to P+.

So the moral of the story is... Dont assume the red and black wires are the right way round when you get your spanky new batteries - always check them with a multimeter! I guess I was lucky I did not fry the bflex in the light.

The second photo is of the PCB on the second battery.... right polarity on the wires this time... but the PCB was fried even before I had wired a socket on to it!

The third battery... was just fine!

Cant fault the service from All battery though, they have been superb and 2 new batteries arrived very quickly.

    Expensive!

I ordered a few other lithium batteries and the overall postage came to $80 - I did have a code though than gave me $25 discount so that made it feel better.

Mine seem to be ok. I have one of my packs charging right now. It kind of worried me when I saw that I had ordered mine from All-Battery as well, but mine seem to be fine.

Thanks for the warning though, and sorry about your misfortune.
