    Wiring Up a Switch

I have a dumb question about adding a switch to a DIY light. Should you wire the switch between the battery and the driver or between the driver and the leds?

    Thanks!

i asked this same Q the other day. you have to put the switch between the batt and driver. will look for the thread it was in.

basically if you have the switch after the driver there is still load on the capacitors that charges them up. then when you close the switch it send a voltage spike or something through the leds. this can damage/kill the emitters.

    hope this helps.

Also, many drivers don't like having the output circuit open. As soon as you connect the battery the driver will fry.

It's not about speed, it's about lack of control.
