1. ## Mascot battery charger

I have one of these chargers that came with my dive light, I'm just wondering if i can use it to charge a 14.4v pack?

As you can see it says on the charger 3 cell 12.6v 1.2a I'm assuming this means that i cant use it to charge 4 cells in series 14.4v?
It also has a nice RCA connector..
i found the pdf's but still not to sure, electronics was never my strong point.

2. 14.4V is a four cell battery. This is a three cell charger. So the answer is no.

3. i thought that was the case, but i thought that chargers just pump out some amps or ma? rather than for a particular voltage?
Why does the charger say 12.6v? 3 x 3.7v is 11.1v ??
Peak charged voltage 3 x 4.2v = 12.6v?

4. yeah, its to do with what voltage is reached and maintained in order to determine whether the battery is charged. (4.2v per cell)

5. Lithium ion chargers follow a more complicated "constant current / constant voltage" charge methodology. It's only constant current/variable voltage UP TO 4.2V per cell. Then it maintains constant 4.2V per cell while current gradually drops.
