have dead mj808, need advice on what to replace guts with

Let me begin by saying I am a total novice. I have an mj808 that was my first helmet light back in 2010 originally equipped with a p7. Eventually it died and now I am left with the case that I would like to use as my first project.

I was wondering if I can use an mt -g2 such as this

    Cree MT-G2 P0 5000K 6V LED on Noctigon MT-G20 Copper MCPCB

if anyone has a better suggestion I am all ears.

Will also need a driver, suggestions are welcome.

I already have a gloworm x2, Gemini olympia, a couple Gemini titans, and Just ordered the securitying version of the duo clone and uniquefire that has been reviewed extensively here so I don't have any specific requirements but figured I would aim for maximum output for a single emitter

Again, total noob so please let me know what my best options are and sorry if I come off sounding foolish

    Thanks in advance

You can use driver: 4-Mode 0.8~1.5A LED Driver Circuit Board for XM-L Bicycle Headlamp / Flashlight - Black (3.0~8V) - Free Shipping - DealExtreme and any XM-L2 led. MT-G2 might go, but be prepared you'll get much more spill and less throw. Never tried MT-G2 with that driver, though.

Thanks for the response. I think I will go with the driver you posted and an xm-l2 as the driver is already set up with the switch where it needs to be and everything. It is probably a better bet that I keep it simple this time around as I'm notorious for abandoning projects when I hit a roadblock. MT-G2 will be for another day

I'm glad I could help. If you like to raise the current add some sense resistor over the existing R100. Read also is it a mistake in the description? ? DealExtreme Forum

Done, just learning about the rep system. Thanks again. The securitying versions of the KD 2 and uniquefire that I ordered should be here tomorrow from amazon. Look forward to ripping into them and doing the resistor mod as well
