Caution; Merge; Workers Ahead! correct cable AWG

hi there, looking to mod my hope 2 led with fresh Lflex and 2 XML's like seen here from the dude that knows it all too well.. trout..

now I'm confused with all the gauge sizes.
the 2 xml will draw about 4.2+4.2= 8.4V at tops of 2.5A (wont drive it more than 2A but maybe give it a go..) correct?

which gauge will i need to wire up leds to Lflex?
and what gauge between the battery- headlight unit? (would like aprox 60-80 cm of cable - battery is in the bag and light is a helmet light (because it's so lite!!)

    yours truly GOZAL

The hope lead will do fine for the power supply

and you wont get huge cables in the Lflex solder holes so just use what will fit in the holes

its a dead easy upgrade and stunningly bright even at 1.5 amps drive

over here in the uk they are using the 2 amp setting and keeping nice and cool .
its a nice little housing .

    Google chassis wiring ampacity

You will get results that vary widely. I use a chart published by HP for use in equipment. It is fairly conservative. Lots of charts will say for example that 22AWG will carry 7A. Look at the fine print and you see that is for a single conductor in free air. Not the case in a light! With a chart like that I would de-rate by ~50%.

I see this table referenced often. Can somebody explain the difference between chassis wiring and power transmission. It seems like everyone quotes the chassis wiring specs. Why wouldn't our lights require the power transmission spec?
    Thanks,
    Andy
