    Copyright issues? :)

I had previously toyed with these flashlights from Harbor Freight. They were on sale at two for $4.99, so I bought six as potential donors at some point. Plus they make good little flashlights for the kids around the house and when camping and such.

Today as I was replacing a worn chainring on my Nomad I ended up with one spare set of nuts. I was about to toss them into the spare parts bin when it dawned on me that they might be perfect for a dual spot configuration. Although I need more LEDs to complete the build, these should work fine with my budget DX drivers and XREs with an external 2P 18650 battery pack.

Until the cease and desist order arrives I'll call it "the Geico" (you may not all know the commercial - there's an example at the end)

    The donor light

Boring the first hole - needs to be big enough for the female piece

Blurry pic of the male end. I had to bore the hole bigger to allow the female to thread into the head.

Connected up with tailcaps waiting. Used a strip of inner tube since the tail diameters are smaller than the heads.

One for the switch and one to receive power

    And the original...

The inner tube as a space filler is a nice touch. It makes for an easy build

Well they aren't yet since they're in the mail I have some .75" round aluminum bar that I can cut into slugs to mount the LEDs to. This will leave enough space for wiring. I'll experiment with the heat dissipation before final assembly to make sure it's adequate.
