    Cateye EL530 drive current?

    Anyone know the drive current of one of these?
    Want to put a P4 ZLed in it to give it a bit more uummph!
    Its only my backup light but its always nice to have all lights as bright as they can go!

    What is in there currently? If it is a luxeon then a P4 wil be an upgrade no matter what current.

    Obviously,just wondered what i needed to do to get it up to the 1000mA if it needed it.

    I guess there is some cheap 1 Watt led inside and a resistor to limit the current. Driving a led in that plastic housing on 1A will fry the led. Plastic is a good insulator, there is a reason that all the better lights are made from metal.

    You could swap the led for an U-bin P4, it will increase the light ouput significantly. But don't change the current too much.

    I wouldn't run it at 1A as there is no decent path out for the heat.
