    battery help

I'm slowly piecing a lighting system together as I have time find and make cheap parts. Next on the list is the battery.

I took apart an old laptop battery and want to use the cells to make a battery pack for my light. Inside there are four 18650 3.2v 2ah cells wired in series to a pcb. I'll be leaving them in series for 14.4 but I won't be using the pcb as its the wrong shape and I have no idea what the pin outs are on it. I was thinking of buying a charge management boards so that I can reuse the ac adapter that came with the laptop.

Are there any disadvantages to using a charge management board as opposed to a normal pcb and a smart charger?

It looks like it is more than your typical protection circuit. I think you are correct that it is a charge controller too. It's too bad that they don't have a link to some specifications.
