    Ay Up & Diy

Has anyone made anything similar to the Ayup setup?
They seem very small and light compared to anything else, I wonder how there enough metal in the housing for heatsinking.

I have not seen anything that closely resembles the Ay-Up lights yet, but I recall that there had been some talk in one of the threads. I think the thread below may have some info, though I searched it and did not find a reference to Ay-up's:

IMO it would be tricky to make a hacked together light that is as bulletproof as the original though - unless you had the tools to build one properly (lathe, mill or really good metalworking skills - none of which I possess).

I think there was a whole thread about those lights, I would check the reviews on DX too since their quality seems to change from batch to batch.

    2. have you used more than 2 of the ay-up lights? i have used 3 HIDs, and i would prefer the ay-up mtb setup any day.
    3. i am convinced that my ay-up lights are awesome and will survive the apocalypse.

First time poster here. I am fascinated by the lights conceived and developed by posters here. I am wondering if this particular aluminum pill fob would make a good housing for a screw-in unit like the one pictured above:

    Thanks for any feedback.

Note the comparison photo with the AA battery.

Yeah there is a thread dealing with those from a while back(might be on CPF). Would make a good XP-E light.
