05 Kona Coiler Dee-Lux bottom bracket issues

Has anyone had a problem with the Raceface bottom bracket hitting the main pivot?

Looney, i have not as of yet. I have a Coiler Primo. I haven't heard of any issues, but if that's happening, bring it in to your Kona dealer right away and have them check it out.
Thanks, and let me know if you see anything like that happening,
    Joe.

    pedals off?

I noticed the pivot sits right on the external bb. I have the 05 and have only ridden it a bit. I'm was wondering the same thing. I'm having a heck of a hard time getting the stock pedals off. I know they reverse thread, but I still can't get them to budge. Any ideas.

Only the right pedal has left hand treads.

Put the crank arm in the forward position parallel to the ground. Have your pedal wrench on with the handle toward the back of the bike. Push down. You can pull up on the cranks arm on the other side for more leverage. works the same for both sides.

That is exactly what I am talking about. If you hear a loud crack like your frame is breaking check the place where the pivot and bb touch. Both my pivot and bb are starting to deform. My Kona dealer is in talks with Kona now and I am without a bike ( mostly because I didn't want to borrow my dealer's bike). Don't get me wrong this is the greatest bike I have ever owned. Someone just had there head in a bad place when the put that bb with this bike.

I just picked up my Coiler DL today. The swingarm just below the pivot did appear to touch the BB cup on the left side.

I removed the the RF crankset in favor of longer Profile Racing cranks and a bash/36/24 setup. Still waiting on parts for the final build.

BTW the finish on the Coilers is gorgeous. Pics can not do it justice.
Joe, is it a powder coat? Looks like satin ano.

    Shiggy,
Noi it's not a powdercoat... Just a sweet looking liquid paint job. I have a Coiler Primo, and it's the exact same way, that yellow looks so good in person!

    Cheers,
    Joe.

It sure is nice! The pics of the grey are just blah. It is alive when you actually see it. Good job on the spec.

Hey! Are you going to be in the Kona Crew at the 'Puff? There is a DH race at Willamette Pass the same weekend.

I may be down this year at the 'Puff to cheer the others on. I'm not ready to try and do it this year, though... maybe next!

I just installed a FSA X-drive BB in my Coiler DL. The adjustable cup lockring hit the swingarm near the pivot and could not be tightened.
I solved it by removing the bottom shock mount bolt so I could lift the swingarm out of the way.
Then did a rough adjustment of the BB and marked to area of interference on the lockring. Filed down the lockring in the offending section o about the diameter of the BB shell.
Adjusted the BB and reattached the shock bolt.
    All looks fine!
