Rear Tire Size Question for Defcon frame

I posted a thread on Tire forum and was asked to move it here to Jamis:
    http://forums.mtbr.com/wheels-tires/...t-1023194.html

The question is what rear tire sizes have existing Defcon owners use in the rear?

I'm switching out the rear tire and the 2.3 (58-584) size is almost impossible to find locally, not to mention I dislike the Vittoria OEM tire very much (reasons detailed here: http://forums.mtbr.com/wheels-tires/...sa-996677.html).

Will a 2.4 (60-584) size tire fit the Defcon frame? (same size as the front tire)

The people that have responded to my original post simply replied go find out yourself. I'm asking those who have done it already so I don't have to conduct my own individual experiment.

    * Will a 2.4 work successfully or is their rubbing on the frame in the turns?
    * What other brands / types of tires have been mounted on the Defcon frame (and in what size) that work for you?

I'm heavily considering the Continental X-King Protection for my rear tire, but the only sizes available are 2.2 (55-584) and 2.4 (60-584).

    Thank you.

I run a 2.3 Maxxis High Roller II on a wide 30.5mm inner diameter rim and there's a good amount of clearance in the rear. It's going to depend on the rim/tire combo, but I think you should be OK with most 2.4 set-ups. If you don't mind the extra work you could always set up the 2.4 Vittoria front tire on the back wheel just to check.

If it will help I'll take a picture of my tire clearance when I get home tonight.

I agree on the OEM Vittoria tires, just terrible.

That appears more room than my current mounted OEM Vitorria in 2.3. See image from here with ruler measurement:

    Thank you for the photo.

So I took a closer look at my frame today after a ride and I was .... $%#$^&$...#$%# at Jamis. Apparently their stock OEM Vittoria size 2.3 tire is rubbing against the frame!

Why would they install a 2.3 tire that is too wide for the frame?!

Apparently I have my answer, install a 2.2 size tire.

Interesting. I'm running a 2.4 on my 650b Pro, which is a 130mm AM bike.
