I've squeezed a 2.5" Nevegal in there, but it's tight. You need a really stiff wheel to keep from rubbing. I routinely run a 2.35" Nevegal on mine and it still rubs now and then I guess, but I never feel it or hear it. I just see the result.

Yeah, 2.35 Nevegal is about as wide as I'd go.

I've heard that the minions and older maxxis tires run a bit small. I'd give it a shot.

yeah it'll work NP, maxxis do fit a bit smaller, i run a 2.35 Nevegal and like previous poster said it fits tight, keep your wheel trued and tensioned and it'll be just fine, the maxxis being slightly smaller it should be a great fit for the komodo.

Also, keep your bearings/cones & quick releases as tight as possible to keep flex to a minimum - I would fairly regularly buzz the chainstays if I was cornering hard.
