Jamis FPD clipless pedals

I have been wanting to try a clipless pedal and a buddy of mine happened to have a pair of FPD clipless pedals that had come installed on his Jamis Dakota. Does anyone know if I can use regular Shimano SH51 or SH56 cleats with those pedals? Or would I be better off just getting different pedals altogether?

I rode those pedals for a season and they use wellgo cleats. I think I tried spd cleats and they did not work but I'm not 100% sure if I tried the spd cleats on the FPD pedals or something else.
Wellgo's work for sure. And for what it's worth, the pedals worked very well and I still have them.
