    Jamis Dakar XCT 3

    Is there anyone familiar with the XCT 3? I am a little concerned about the weight as I am a 5'4, 135 lb., female rider. I'm really hoping that this is the bike for me but here's my question:

    If you have a moment to take a look at the specs, can you tell me please where you think weight can be shaved?? It's listed at about 30.2 lbs.

    the wheels i had mavic 317 on another bike and they weighted like 6 or 7 pound each.

    the weight to loose on the bike is everything that rotates with the biike such as wheels, cranks, chain, cassette,rotors,tires.... Dont focus on parts such as handlebar, seatposts,seats...

    You will noticed a big difference by replacing those heavy wheels, for your weight you could go easily with stans wheel and also use tires with stans. You will save a couple of pounds just by switching that...

    Good job! I also have the same bike and replaced some parts.

    I replaced my crank set with a shimano xt, also replaced the wheel set with a shimano xt wheel set with light 2.0 tubeless tires. Now the weight of my Jamis xct3 bike is 27.8 pounds...... :-)

    Thank you so much for your replies, gentlemen! My new Jamis is home and I cannot wait to ride it; the weather is supposed to be, well, better than it has been on the east coast of the states. I know I need to get out there and ride , but I cannot keep my eyes off of a couple of new wheels. The new Easton Haven's are tubeless and supposedly weigh in at about 1650 grams....the Fulcrums and Alex's really look awesome...but that is champagne on a corona budget. lol.     2.0 or 3.0?

    Hey, hoping to revive this discussion for a minute. I"m considering buying this bike... at first I wasn't going to spend more than $800, then I decided to go with the Dakar 2.0, and now I'm thinking about spending the extra $275 for the 3.0. ($1370 on jensonusa.com, as opposed to $1100 for the 2.0).

    So, can I ask why you guys went with the 3.0 over the 2.0? Are the components a pretty serious upgrade? I'm 5'5" 120 lbs, so I'm definitely interested in the lower weight as well (and then probably will swap out the tires for lighter ones). And to the original poster, how do you like the bike??
