    Help identify Dakar (year)
I broke my 2005 Dakar XLT frame, Jamis replaced the frame with a black xlt that has a larger seat tube diameter than the '05. Does anyone know what year this frame is? I need to order a bearing kit but don't know what year to order. I've tried two times contacting Jamis with this question, but they failed to reply.

If you can read on the side of the bearings, there should be a number on there. Get the numbers off all the bearings, and go here and order the bearings you need (make sure to order the "Endruo Max" bearings as they are made for suspension pivots (i.e. low rotation).

Thanks, I was planning to order from Enduro. I didn't realize there are numbers on the bearings, I'll check it out.
Still would like to know what year the frame is though.

    what is the serial #

usually it represents the factory it was made. 2-3 letters
then the year manufactured: 03 would usually be a 2004 model-

    usually...... not always-

My guess is that it would be a 2006 or 2007. Assuming they would give you a newer frame than what you had, and 2007 was the last year of the XLT. Check on bikepedia, and see if there are any on there with a similar color scheme to yours.
