The fate of the Dragon in 2010 and beyond

I hope Jamis does not discontinue this bike any time soon. I can't justify (another) new bike purchase right now, but I really want a Dragon. It's one of the few 26" steel MTB frames left out there and would be awesome for off road touring. Plus, you just can't get classic color schemes like that on a MTB these days. Of course, if they turned it into a 650b machine I'd be OK with that, too

Its still around in 10. The pro and the comp are back. But a touring bike? There's better out there, these are race bikes and built like it.

I've met a number of people who have set their Dragon up as a dirt touring rig and they sought them out specifically for that. Gary Fisher Ferrous was another nice one, but that is a 29er specific frame now. Steel is preferable for touring, IMO, and the 26" has many advantages from a touring standpoint as well. Sure there are some specific options like the Salsa Fargo or the Rivendell Bombadil but they both have their down sides.
