Fair price on a 2000 Dakar Pro?

Came across someone selling a 2000 Dakar Pro in my size (17") for $250. I'm tempted, but I'm a little worried about parts availability for a FS frame that old, and some of the parts spec isn't really my style (Gripshift shifters, flat bars/bar ends, etc). If I have to shell out $100 for bushings, and reconfigure the bar/shifter setup, it'll add up to be a good bit more than I want to spend.

At what price would you just buy it anyway? Are my concerns about frame age and parts availability warranted?

Nobody? The guy just offered to knock $50 off -- that'd be $200 out of pocket. Worth it?

How does Jamis handle warranty claims on secondary owners? IE, if I busted the frame would I just be out of luck?

    Not worth it.

No warranty claims for second owner, let alone a ten year old bike.

Be lucky if Jamis even has any bushings left.

That's kind of what I figured. Tempting as I've never owned a FS bike, and it's a decent spec for $200. But I'd hate to have to spend another $200 to make it rideable.
