New question here. What chain tensioner are you SS guys using?

I've got the Surly on my Pondo. It's been fine the past couple of years, but like everyone else.....I'm itching for something new. And I'm wanting to place my order by this afternoon.

    So what should I get?

    Thanks

    Nick

I used the Surly for a couple of years. Everyone seems to like the Paul Melvin though. You could just get a Novara Reason frame for cheap enough though too.

I have a SoulCraft tensioner, and really like it.

Before the SoulCraft I had a Surly, and can't say much good about it. It worked marginally well, and then broke.
Each bicycle owned exponentially increases the probability that none is working correctly.

I've used the following and this is the order of preference:
    1. Ghetto Eno (half link and shaved axle) or magic gear ratio
    2. Rennen
    3. Paul Melvin
    4. Surly and clones
    5. old derailleur
    6. Eno hub (I've never used one but people swear by them)
All the SS bikes I have are converted gearies...
If you can wait, I'll also have a practically new Paul Melvin at the garage sale. I used it on the dinglespeed experiment. It was never ridden.

    Have used the Rennen

It is a bit more expensive than other but it is qualtiy and bombproof. Also no spring tension used.
