Trail Closure? Rocky Canyon to Lucky Peak

I just looked at the RidgeToRivers webpage.
    http://www.cityofboise.org/parks/R2R.../wmatrail.html

What happened here? Is it just the ORV trail that is closed, or the road too? How can "they" close a road?

This was a nice way to get up to Lucky Peak from Rocky Canyon road. I can't understand the purpose of this closure. It was a dirt road -- bikes can't do any damage to this. This trail provided some great views overlooking the valley.

Is there any access to Lucky Peak from Rocky Canyon? There's another route I've taken, a bit tougher, with more climbing, but it looks like part of it is on the "closed" portion too.

Apparently it crosses private land and the landowners have exercised their rights by closing off all access. I will refrain from saying what I really think.

I'm sure Smilycook can fill in the details. See the calender on SWIMBA's page: http://www.swimba.org/cgi-bin/calend...nt&event_id=18
Nobody cares what kind of bike you ride.

and is now closed. The land owner did not want people cutting through his land anymore so he decided to close it, he did not give any specific reasons either.

The foothills aquistion committee tried to acquire this land but it did not work out well in the end and the acquisition did not go throught. As a result the road has been closed, you can still access the ridge road to lucky peak by going up the atv trail a little ways below the old mine site.

Others options are being considered and we will do our best to reopen the trail, but I can't guarentee anything or speak on the details in a public forum.
