    Sun Valley 10/9-10/12

    Hi all --

I'm thinking about coming through Sun Valley (en route to Bend) October 9-12ish. I know I'm kind of rolling the dice with weather and am looking for some help gauging whether it's worth the detour -- does "chance of thunderstorms" in this area more likely mean "definitely afternoon thunderstorms" or "possibly full day of weather"? If it is wet, how do trails around here hold up? Would I be be better off in the Boise area?

In case it's relevant: I'll be solo, looking for fast/flowy vs. rocky/technical, trail networks with either good maps/signage or good reception. Thoroughly mediocre rider, aiming to be out 4-5 hours a day.

    Thanks for any help!

    Alia

You'll be fine. Just pack a rain jacket and layer up. If it's just an afternoon shower (or even half a day of rain for that matter), it will make the trails ride better. It's been a dry season so any moisture will just get sucked up by the soil.

Long range forecast is 50 degrees and most likely dry. Should be good. Rain between now and then should help settle some of the dust and improve your experience, like flip said.
