lv2ride wants to get his rock on at Rock Islands this Saturday morning. CBro and 98 also said they might be interested..Soooo we'll be heading out for the Islands arriving at 9am at the Old Pen if anyone else wants to join us for a few hours of humor, and carnage.

This is the dress code so you'll know what to look for...mustache is optional.

I think I stayed out a little late tonight and probably won't be joining in. Another day though when I plan things a little better.

    rock island

B4X, Justen, Andrew and I all had a great time at rock island this morning. It sure helps the confidence for chickens like me to have spotters looking out for my well being. We were all coached by the master (pictured below. If you would like to see him handling the first triple section look at

Nice movie, Swede. Great to see Parker strutting his stuff... and spotters rule!

To Ian, SWIMBA, and all the guys who built Rock Islands, thanks for making it fun and tough. This section was a little tricky to figure out at first, but a few attempts finally made it:

The roller coaster section owned me today (https://spudhucksters.com/ian_middle...ter_rocks2.jpg) - I couldn't conquer it so I guess I'll have to go back another day.....

Are you guys using camcorders to get the vids or just using your digicams?

    Epic

Hey Swede, I noticed that you were riding an '03 Epic like I used to ride. Do you have issues with the low BB height and bashing your big ring on Rock Island obstacles. I rode most of the trail a couple of times when it opened, but haven't been back in a while because my bike took such abuse. I actually got to the point that I had taken down over half of the height on the teeth of my big ring in one spot, ouch!

I now have a new Epic which is increased to 100mm of travel and a higher BB height. I may have to see if I can clear them again without the bike carnage this time.

    Good looking vid/pics guys.

Last year I put on a RaceFace bash guard on the Yeti to replace the big ring.

    the epic

I didnt bash the chain ring at all. Of course I checked out the rocks where that could be an issue and by-passed them....that also made for a good excuse instead of calling on the wimp factor.

    Nick,

we were both using digicams. I just got an olypus FE 230 and I love it especially since it was reasonably priced and size...3.5"x2"x5/8".

hey guys thanks for letting me ride with you today! I had a lot of fun, esp. clearing some new lines. I'd totally be down for some pump-tracking sometime. Just let me know. Thanks again.

I probably have to work at noon, so I would be open to a morning ride if you can swing it. Would that work for you?

That's awesome how well you rode that section. You made it look easy. Thanks for the props on building that trail. Lots of people put in hard work to make that a success. By the amount of posts that go into I'd say that its been a great addition to the Boise trail system.

That was the second time I was able to ride it about 6 tries. At the end of the video, I high five some New Zealander who's been in Boise 1 day, who just rode it on his first attempt on his XC bike, hungover no less. Talk about making it look easy. I was pretty humbled.

I am bummed I couldn't help with the building last year. However, I look forward to helping with the 07 projects. Keep on truckin'.
