Owyhees - you shoulda been there

I'm still grinning over the ride I took today in the Owyhees with smilycook, Nels, and mtbkrdr98. Only a little mud and snow on Bingo's; otherwise, all was either frozen or dry. We even got a little sun at the end of the ride. Gotta love getting out for a mountain bike ride in January!

    About 15 miles?

I wasn't using a cycling computer, but Chris said we covered about 15 miles. With all the starting and stopping to add and subtract layers of clothing, I think we were out there for about 2 hours, maybe an hour and a half of which was true "riding" time.

From the pics, it looks like a great ride!

Me? I caught the cold from hell and haven't ridden in almost three weeks.

    Nice shots, and you're right,

I shoulda been there. Looked like too much fun for this time of year.

For you, Chris 98 & others, how easy is it to go down there and wing it without getting lost? My schedule rarely allows planning for a ride several days in advance, but I could slip out without much notice and ride now and then.
May your trails be narrow, crooked, lonesome and dangerous, leading to the most outrageous adventures. Paladin

I've ridden out there about 5 times and I still don't have a good clear idea of the trail system. I'm not sure I could go out there alone and not get lost, even having ridden out there a few times. Seems like I've covered the same trails each time, but always a little different route variation, depending on who is leading. Best to go with someone who knows, like Irishbuddha or smilycook.

    good pictures..

and a great ride on sunday. Thanks for posting all of the pictures!

A little sore today after putting in five hours on saturday and then another 2 hours or so on sunday. If this was summer that would be no problem, but winter is a whole different animal.
