Mashing up Rocky Canyon - with side trips

I rode up Rocky Canyon this morning looking for something, anything, that resembled a mountain bike experience. I and ended up getting goods delivered. I started just wanting to get out and ride.

I rode the Sstump because, well, because Ssaturday and Ssunday are for singlespeeds. Pete at IMT built a new rear wheel with an ENO hub and I put an Avid disk up front (yes, I'm riding a mullet) and the new setup is dialing in nicely.

From the end of the pavement I ground up to the upper 3 Beers turn off and mashed up to the terraces to the more clay-rich soils where the trail became unridable. Turned around.

Turned off at Five Mile Creek and mashed up as far as I could before ice and steep trail forced a retreat. Turned around. Really enjoyable singletrack there for this time of year.

Turned off at Orchard Gulch and rode up until the soft trail made mashing a bit too mush of a chore. Turned around.

Rode the rest of the road up to Aldape Summit where last night's snow made things a tad wet and sloppy. Ten miles up with five miles of side trips up gulches to the left. Spun back down to the car.

    The photos:
1 - A foggy drive to Rocky Canyon.
2 - The bike rack has been replaced by a ski rack so I had to cram the Sstump in back.
3 - I was hoping to get at least a cardio workout in but the heart rate monitor wouldn't let my heart go over 170.
4 - Some of the nice singletrack and canopy in Five Mile Creek.
5 - The goods were delivered.
6 - Going back down Five Mile Creek
7 - Not much break in the clouds at Aldape Summit.
8 - Cold wet feet back at the car everything sprinkled with spin mud.

    New question here. Nice pics!

How long is your timer on your camera?

Is that a Geko 201 I see mounted on your handlebars? I use one too albeit sparingly.

It's a Specialized computer - I'm thinking about taking it off, all these numbers are turning my into a data dork.
