    Loon Lake on Fire

Looks like the Loon Lake trails are all closed down if anyone was heading up this way to ride this coming weekend. From what I hear the Loon Lake Fire is the most dangerous of wild fires burning in the Payette National Forest, hitting about 3,000 acres as of yesterday. Sounds like its bad if they are having to take steps to protect all the bridges along the trail. A section of the Lick Creek road has also been shut down.

I flew over central ID yesterday. It looked the mountains were being strafed with smokebombs the size of Minneapolis AND St. Paul. See, I told you guys. It's all going to burn. POOF. This is just a harbinger of the coming global superstorm. It'll be the shitstorm that our grandkids' grandkids' grandkids will say "See, TwistedCrank told you so".

i was really excited to ride this trail again too! looks like that ride will be postponed for a bit. maybe in a couple of weeks it'll be better.
has anybody heard of any fires by duck lake (20-mile)? last year when we rode it, there was lots o' fires burning making for awesome air quality!
i might be going to hell in a bucket, but at least i'm enjoying the ride

That website above has lots of cool maps that are kept current. It looks 20mile is still open, but just barely. As for air quality, the whole valley is bad. It seems to get better as the day progresses actually, but the mornings are bad.

I spent the whole weekend in McCall ( just got back ) and based solely on the air quality, (horrendous, can you say "asthma attack?") bikes stayed in the garage. We went paddle rafting, sailing and swimming instead. We also pulled up the incident map there are fires everywhere. As we were paddling the S Fk. Payette ( whee!) you could see the columns of smoke exploding before our very eyes. Driving through Riggins on teh way home was scary and dark.

I told you it was all gonna torch.

This is a mere harbinger of the impending global sh!tstorm.

Maybe SmilyCook can help us out with this. He can get a position on the Apostle board of directors and maybe talk to God or some other weathermaker in a position of authority.
