New question here. Kirkham Ridge Trail

Tonight is "Nick asks questions about Boise National Forest trails".

So what is the Kirkham Ridge Trail like? It's open to dirt bikes and ATV's. So does that mean the trail is pretty loose and sandy or is it solid enough to ride a bike on without struggling through through it?

    Don't waste your time...

for one thing, the whole area is burned over. If you do ride it, I would suggest doing it clockwise starting at the ranger station and going up Lick creek.

Of course, that's just my humble opinion.

A ride in the area you may be interested in is Bear Valley/Clear Creek Summit over into Whitehawk Basin to the No Man creek turnoff and eventually to the Whitehawk Basin trail that leads to the Deadwood Ridge trail and after many miles dumps you out on the South fork of the Payette river at Deadwood campground. Big shuttle involved, but well worth it.
