Imnaha Canyon Trip into Hells Canyon

Some college friends were staying in enterprise,or for a month and invited me up for the weekend to do some hiking and biking. Saturday the weather was poor so we saved the big trip for Sunday. On sunday we drove down to the Imnaha River and did a 8 mile out and back ride which took us through this cool canyon called Imnaha Canyon which led down to the Snake River. It was an amazing ride and definatly worth checking it out yourself although don't go there in the summer becuase it was mighty warm in the canyon even for this time of year. Some of the pictures are either bright or dark, it was hard getting the right light in the canyon.

    1) my buddy riding the trail
    2) me on the river banks of the snake
    3) the trail
    4) Owen loving it up

About the bike racks. If the rear wheel strap works loose the bike launches (pivots on front axle as the airstream lifts the rear). Saw it happen on a different brand but the principle is the same.

Looks awsome! How long did the bike ride take? How far of a drive from Boise?

16 miles with the first part on some dirt roads, scenic dirt roads thought. The trail itself is about 4 miles long and ends at the snake river. So it is an out and back ride 8 miles in and miles out. There is a possibility to make a very large loop also if you are up for it. Drive to enterprise was 4 hours and then about 1 1/2h to the trailhead. Although once the road over wallowas opens up you can shorten the drive or take the dirt rd stsrting near hells canyon dam and shot down the imnaha.
