Helena riders - "the 6 hatch"?

I just heard this term bantered around jokingly during a recent rest break atop Mt. Ascension.

    Are we THAT noticeable?

    Why wouldn't you be?
ps - requesting gluten-free beer is a dead giveaway.

I don't get it? License plate county code? Super tall?
I certainly see a lot of Bozeman riders here these days, totally understandable with Bozeman riding not thawing out until well into biking season. My only request is to be overly friendly and accommodating to our non-biking trail users.

Yeah. One guy mentioned that there were lots of Bozemanites on the trails and a girl nearby said, "yep, we call it the 6 hatch".

I thought it was funny. We had a good laugh over it while drinking our $9 gluten-free beers.

Hopefully I'll be back up there this weekend - although Bozeman is drying out now too.

I haven't heard the term before, so it's not that widespread. But yeah, all the Gallatin Co. plates at the trailheads and along Park Avenue don't go unnoticed. I don't know of anyone complaining about that, though. Most of my Bozeman friends have been up here nearly every weekend for the last couple of months.

Wow, I wouldn't have guessed that you've been riding that long. But, then again, I try to milk every last bit of snowboarding out of the season that I can before dusting off the bikes.

Yup, we popped the 3rd week of March. One weekend was passable fatbiking, and the next was dry dirt almost everywhere. We had a long winter with continual snow coverage without freeze/thaw, so there wasn't any ice to wait out.

Funny. We get a 13 Hatch here in Salmon.
