    Great time in Stanley!

So, a few of you may remember this thread: http://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?t=393702 that I started about heading to Stanley to explore some riding opportunities. We ended up with 10 riders, some related by blood and all related by a passion for mountain biking. We stayed at Redfish Lake and many of us brought spouses and kids, who kept entertained by kayaking, hiking and horseback riding. We all took pictures of the awesome scenery and trails, and I thought I'd post a few of the ones I took.

Our first day we shuttled up to the end of 4th of July road. We took the trail up and over the ridge into Ant's Basin and explored around the Born Lakes. From there we headed down Warm Springs to the Meadows and then up and over and down Williams to finish the day. Absolutely a killer ride.

    2nd day

Ok, for the 2nd day, we started up Fisher road and went down to the Meadows, and then over to Marten Creek for the climb up past the Casino Lakes and down Little Casino. Marten Creek was a real grunt, it had some sweet sections but a lot of barely rideable to barely walkable sections. The views up on top were awesome though.

    Goofing off on Fisher:

Through the burned out area on the way to the junction with Williams:

    Awesome views of Redfish Lake:

No pictures going down Little Casino, too much fun.

    3rd day

This day we opted for something a little easier and did Little Basin Creek. What a hoot!

    Coming down from the ridge:

I bet this meadow is stunning with flowers earlier in the summer:

    Fun fun fun:

This is what happened to most of us at the last big crossing:

But one guy made it through:

All in all, we really had a blast, and we're already scheming to get back there. Thanks to everyone for all the trail beta and advice, it really made for an awesome trip!

That burned out is surreal. In four or five years, when the shrubs have grown back and are green, they'll be a beautiful contrast to the burned out trees that are still standing, assuming they leave them there and let nature take its course.

That last water crossing looks fun as heck, assuming it is a warm sunny day.

    Excellent pics!!!

Looks like a great time. When I was at the top of Ant's Basin in early July there was still quite a bit of snow between the summit and the Borne Lakes. It looks like it was much drier for you.

Looks like a fun trip. Can't say you would catch me going up martin creek!

Hopefully they got all the trees cut out on little casino for you, that trail is just a blast. So much change as you descend...

Thanks for sharing, I always walk across the river at Little Basin and Kelly creek. Gave me chuckle seeing what happens if you try to ride it. Bravo to the guy that made it.
    Ride the bike.
