    Discovery MTB race 2007

2007 Discovery Mountain Bike Race Did anyone else who visits here ride this race? I raced Sport class and did not do as well as hoped. I demo'd a Specialized Expert since my ride was out of commission at the time. The bike was sweet, but it didn't make me a champ. I had a problem with the seatpost continually sliding down. I had to stop mid race to raise it once, and considered doing it several other times during the ride. The weather was freezing, I don't think it got above 45 degrees. Here's a link to a blog by the expert winner, it's a good read. Also some pictures of me.

I liked this little section, both laps I passed people here who were dropping down gears to make the climb whereas I just stood up and grunted past them in whatever gear I was in.

top of that same section, I'm now ahead of the two or three people I was just behind.

A cold day, a little mud, sweet bike, wished I was faster.

I'm not sure what you mean. I believe the single/double track portions of the race are the cross country ski trail system at the base of Discovery Ski Area. As far as I know they are open to the public. The portion on dirt roads is certainly open to the public. The race itself is open to the public as well, although you must purchase a one-day USA cycling license if you don't own an annual one. Here's a link to the flyer for the race. http://montanacycling.net/docs/flyer...ce%20Flyer.pdf
