Bonking ... not feelin' well Damn rain!

    *sigh*

Headed up Lower Hulls on the SS....I was getting occasional drops here and there when I started out at Camel's Back. Grunting up the trail it was getting more steady. Next thing ya' know I see the guy on the Giant NRS who passed me several mins ago heading back down. That's when I stopped and decided that I best be fixin' to turn around and head back to the parking lot. Good thing that I did too. By the time I threw the bike into the back of my rig, it was coming down pretty good. Oh well...it was nice to get out for a bit. What sucks though is that it looks like rain is gonna hit us for a good chunk of next week. I know we desperately need the rain....so I guess it's running on the Greenbelt for me until everything dries out again.

    Fortunately...

a group of us went out at 11 am for a 2 hour SS speed-fest (OK- there were a couple of gearies)... It was starting to drizzle once we got back at 1pm... We need the rain anyway...

I did corrals as an out and back today. Got done at noon-ish. I had a few drops hit me when I was at the top of corrals, then the cruise back was dry. My the time I got home it was starting to rain.

And yes, you are right, we DO need the rain!

Yeah, this rain isn't doing much for me yesterday. At least I get motivated to ride harder when the fear of getting caught in a downpour on my new bike hits.

Like the chant at Woodstock; NO RAIN,NO RAIN,NO RAIN, NO RAIN, NO RAIN, NO RAIN, NO RAIN, NO RAIN, NO RAIN, NO RAIN, NO RAIN, NO RAIN, NO RAIN, NO RAIN.

Someday it will stop, the mighty sun will reappear and make things dry so all of us who love to ride will be able to spend hours on our bikes and come home with smiles on our faces. Until then I will sit and sulk.

How does this spring compare with springs in the past? Abnormal? Typical?

Last year I was able to knock off both Peak 4987 and Lucky Peak by this time and both were bone dry. If the rain was to let up I'd probably be able to do Lucky Peak, but Peak 4987 would be out of the question for at least a good dry week or two.

    *sigh*

Gimme some sunshine and dry trails please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You won't melt. I promise. I don't know why but most people around here go into hiding when it so much as sprinkles out. I ride trials (not trails) in the rain. Its actually a refreshing change from that damn sun that feels like its going to burn a whole through my skin.

Ugh. Just when I thought I was gonna be able to get in some Foothills loving tonight, it starts raining (at least here in downtown). Blah.

But then again it's only 2:30pm, so who knows, maybe by 6pm it'll be nice and dray. I hope.

Luckily I got in a road ride yesterday and that was nice, but not way in hell I want to spend another evening in the gym tonight.

I just finished my 6mi work commute home in the rain. What's up with this? Do we have to go to Portland to get some sunshine? And I, too, am tired of the whole gay roadie thing, longing to get back on dirt.

CBro, you already come across as some intolerant Bible freak (redundant), and now you're referring to roadies as "gay." Nice. I'd take good odds that most "gay roadies" would kick your pudgy butt on dirt.

Geez Loueez, here we go again....

    can't take a joke?
    Still bigotted against me?
Still Have to call me names to build yourself up? ;~)
    How *tolerant* is that?
O well, Didn't mean to offend, or strike a nerve. Didn't know you'd take it personally.

Just hadn't heard from you for a while, so I figured this would bring you out to say howdy.I knew you'd jump at the chance to call me names, again. "Ouch, please, mommy, the bully keeps calling me names, just because we disagree on some things. Cant you tell him to argue issues, mommy? Not make these ad hominem attacks?" Now, now CB, some people use any excuse to attack others personally, and you just gave him a big one.

"OK, I asked for that." If you and your pals were offended, it wasn't meant to be a personal attack on you at all. Thanks for bringing my insensitivity to my attention.

btw, the "gay roadie" reference, although perhaps insensitive to roadies, is a very common appellation of the roadie culture on the alt.mountain-bike ng, and it's just not me. So I dropped it without considering it might not be acceptable. I'll just be a little more careful around here, OK?

But I'm sorry. Really, I am. Fundamentally so. Tolerantly so.

I didn't take offense to the gay roadie reference and I own a new road bike. You'd think I would considering I'm non-white and would stick up for other minorities here in Idaho.

And I think everyone here...roadies, SS'ers, XC'ers, freeriders, etc. would ride my ass into the ground.

    Anyhoo......

What a sucky night. Had the SS loaded up...started raining this afternoon...got pissed...left work and put the SS inside my rig...figured I'd go to the gym and lift and see if it clears up...got to the gym and discovered I had no shoes so I couldn't go lift....ended up doing some light stretching and then did some ab work on an exercise ball...ran through a couple of sets and stood up and my damn ab muscles cramped up something fierce...I couldn't move so I stood there for several mins in severe pain...finally subsided and I was able to walk around...went into the restroom to take a dump when lo and behold the damn toilet paper wouldn't move around in the dispenser.

So I said **** it and came home.

    Tonight was not my night.

... and if we just ... Saturday was excellent.

Got in about 5 hours of riding Saturday. Hulls Gulch and 39A. Almost no dust!! The ride was sweet, the weather was phenomenal, and most of all, only a few peeps on the trail. Cottonwood was kinda crazy though, nearly ran into a horse and rider. LOL. Going a wee bit too fast I suppose coming down from SmokeABowl, oops!! Looks like the weather is going to start cooperating in the next day or two though and summer will finally be here.

Well, it also used to be common (and socially acceptable) to refer to african americans by the infamous "n" word. Does that make it right? Of course not.

Apologizing profusely obviously wasn't sufficient. Do you want an apology from my mother that she bore me? She might agree with you there, heehh

How about you abduct me, torture me with re-runs of I Love Lucy, put me to a slow death riding your road bike up Mt. Borah, then burn my house down with my dog in it?

You slay me! O wait a minute that's what you wanted, right?? .

o well, fire is never satisfied, either... but I heard you're a great guy in real life. I'll hang onto that.

I think we can all agree that the lovely and affordable Brandi is easy on the eyes.

And, along those lines, I think that intelligent, non-brainwashed and open minded people would agree that she's also a prosyletizing, bible-thumping, camera-hogging, legal-system-abusing, constitution-hating, screeching banshee.

Do you think Hooters would give her a job? Probably not. How unamerican is that?

tell us what you really think.

Keep showing us how "tolerant" you really are! LOL,. You and your McCarthyites should start up an UnAmerican investigation" It could run something like this: "root out them that don't b'lieve like us real 'Mericans! Ex'coot em, I say! Freedom of speech is only for lib'ral lawyers that talk like me! I'm tolerant of everybody that 'greez with me. Restya dam rightwings should be shot! It jez aint 'Merican to stand up for whatcha believe in, when it dont 'gree wid me!

"Dadgummit all anywayz, how long we gotta put up wid people that talk different, or look different than us "sweet, tolerant leftwingers," anywayz? Ime callin my buddiez at the ACLU to get them bible thumpers rounded up in concentration camps, then ship em out. Or gassem like our buddy Adolph did to folks he didn't 'gree with. They're jez not real 'Mericans, like me!"

have I got it right? Sieg Heil, o tolerant one....

Before you call me unAmerican, or even if you do, I'm just having some fun. Albeit slightly at your expense, but you know, your really asked for it with your tirade against Brandi. Unamerican?? What America do you live in anyway? But don't answer that, I'm not really interested, and would rather ride and talk about riding, anyway.

Gotta try out that "ignore" filter so I won't have to hear from the real American anymore. bye bye.

Gotta try out that "ignore" filter so I won't have to hear from the real American anymore. bye bye.

I knew I could goad CBro into a good flame!! Schweet!!!

Interestingly enough, your response focuses only on the "unamerican" part of the description. Perhaps I should have said "unconstitutional" - i.e., her strenuous and non-stop screeching about the legal relocation by the City of Boise of a clearly unconstitutional religious monument from public property (Julia Davis park) to private property. Anyone seeking to violate my friggin' constitutional right to be free from your friggin' "moral values" is patently unamerican.

More interestingly, you failed to rebut my other descriptive terms about the "Boise Bible Banshee." Therefore, let the record reflect your tacit agreement with those terms. Chris, it's just too easy with you.

We're above this folks. At least that's the way I see it, but I could be wrong.
As you can see, Earthpig and CBro has this long-running socio-political... umm... discussion going. And the rest of us are just a bunch of pervs.

Flipinidaho's out of town and he usually steers the disco back to bikes when the talk gets too trashy.
Nobody cares what kind of bike you ride.

TC -I like both of these guys too. Both are very passionate, like myself. I just wondered if I was the only idiot wanting to see, hear, and experience more about mtb, disc rotor burns, and why I'll never be fit enough to ride a SS?!

If you're fit enough to ride a mountain bike you're fit enough to ride SS. I kid you not!

I had no idea you were all 9 members of the U.S. Supreme Court rolled into one guy! Can I bring you all my constitutional questions? Now why do I have to address every point of your tirade again? I don't want to get dirty, and make more of this than it is, or should be.

And when you assumed I had replied to your new argument, even before you made it, wow! that was hot stuff. How do you do that?? I'm obviously outgunned, since my time machine broke and my mind reading skills are rusty.

However, I appreciate the bone you tossed me to concede that you and Adolph have a lot in common. But that's been obvious by your vehement intolerance of others different from yourself.

That's why we had internment camps, the KKK. The same story, new players,... YAWN.

May your trails be narrow, crooked, lonesome and dangerous, leading to the most outrageous adventures. Paladin

Yeah, this one I don't even understand. I guess CBro is in the "if you can't beat 'em, confuse 'em" mode. If this is the quality of response I'm going to get, it's time to let this thread die a quiet death and go ride!
