    Copper City conditions (SW MT)

Just thought I'd start this since, believe it or not, MTBR is more convenient than Facebook for some folks.

We rode there on 12-16-18 and Green Eagle, High Ore, and South Motherload were rideable but long sections were snowpacked a few inches deep. As it warmed the snow free sections got muddy from snowmelt. I bet this weekend it will be mostly snow free but riding when temps are below freezing may still be the safest bet.

North Motherload and that whole north-facing hillside looked almost ski-able.

SWMMBA and Copper City Trails Instagram Pages usually post updates and are super responsive if you ask.......Seems like the frontside will stay somewhat rideable throughout winter but the backside is a no-go (Except maybe for fatbikes) a couple weeks back I Hike-A-Biked through 6 inches of snow on the road leading up on the leftside and saw a ton of cougar tracks. Supposedly there are a bunch in those hills.

Although I haven't been out there, I've seen a ton of pictures and the riding has been good for 1+ weeks. Parking lot is packed. We're having a mid winter dry spell and almost all snow has vanished from Copper City.
I don't know what trail we're on, but at least it's getting dark

Supposedly you can finally drive out to the trailhead as it was previously full of massive snow-drifts. It's not quite "rideable", but should dry out father quickly. A bit more patience and things should be good to go. I've heard Lewis and Clark Caverns is riding good already.
