    Butte/CDT/Helena area dry?

Well, two weeks of rain and snow in Big Sky has me thinking it's about time to travel. Let's hear some updates from the Butte area.

Rode CDT northbound from pipe stone toward homes take. Snow isn't to much of an issue (with only occasional sections to ride thru). Trails are riding pretty great. There are quite a few down big trees between Hwy 2 and Beaver Ponds. Beaver ponds is largely still under snow. I didn't go much past the Beaver Ponds turn because of the downed trees.

Helena is in good shape. The snow has pretty much melted, and did the trails a world of good.

Would anyone recommend Bilk or Beartrap area? Which would be dryer tomorrow?

For a quick, easy outing, consider Copper City. It has gotten wet a number of times, and is unrideable when wet, but it dries really fast. The beginner loop is in and being enjoyed. It's pretty darned fun for a beginner loop.
I don't know what trail we're on, but at least it's getting dark

just rode copper city this weekend. 5 mile beginner loop, with a 1 mile out/back that is the start of the intermediate section. Luckily i got out early and it was empty, reports were 100's of people between Sat/Sun. So great. Many many many props to Tim Hawke.

I just hit Copper City the other day. I can't wait to see what the more intermediate and up trail becomes over the next few years.

With that being said, where is it dry right now? I couldn't find anything down in Big Sky, despite the warmer week. Is Bangtail or anything in Bozeman worth driving an hour to check out?

most of the rides on the west side of the bridgers should be good. Bangtails should be good too, stone is a little muddy @ the bottom but pretty darn dry overall. opening day for rifle tomorrow, choose your ride wisely and wear orange/bright colors.

I took a day-trip to Helena and it's riding nice and tacky, yet firm. I wish I wouldn't have had to come back same day, another day would have been great.

we got snow here in Bozeman last night. Looks like homestake pass received the same.

pasting my link isnt working, but google "homestake pass camera"

rode Corbly and Leverage the last couple of days, but were in great condition.

It looks pretty dry to me out there, might need A day.

Ride Copper City Trails. I'm pretty sure they are almost done with another 2 miles of singletrack heading up to the ridge.

Copy Leverage and Corbly. Does Chestnut dry out similarly?

No. Chestnut dirt has much more clay in it. If you want your bike to put on an extra twenty pounds of weight in the form of a delightful limestone/clay mix, then by all means go for it. It's also the kind of mud that doesn't wash off easily with the garden hose. I've been sucker punched by Chestnut a couple of times this time of year.

We rode Johnson Canyon to North Cottonwood (W Bridgers) as an out and back last weekend and it was pretty dry. The remaining snow on the shady sides was totally ride-able. It's all new bench cut trail and it's pretty chill. The views of the valley are really great!

I rode Bilk Mountain as an out and back and a couple moto trails across the street, all dry.
